Ft. Lauderdale, FL – June 11, 2014 – Kids in Distress hosted “Cooking with KID”, an annual fundraiser for the organization where donors participate and spend a portion of their day with the children in attendance. The event has proven to be a wonderful opportunity to support a great cause while helping teach children how to prepare a meal under the guide of a professional chef. The event also serves to empower the children as the sponsors were able to share their own personal “Recipe for Success.”
Attorney Otto E. Bergés was pleased to be one of the event sponsors. Mr. Bergés had the opportunity to cook alongside one of the children and prepare a 3 course meal they were able to enjoy together with other participants. The benefit for the children was three fold – serving not only as a fundraiser, but also providing the children with hands-on kitchen experience while shadowing successful members of their community.
The event was held at Hugh’s Catering and several local businesses sponsored the event, making it an enormous success. According to Mr. Bergés: “Being able to give back to the local community through such a tremendously wonderful cause was not only an honor, but it bolstered my sense of community pride.
